 Member Spotlight: Dan Manning


Dan Manning is a Procurement and Production Specialist in the Corporate Procurement Section of the Logistics Department for LifeWay Christian Resources in the downtown Nashville headquarters. He has 37 years with LifeWay, 34 of them in procurement. He began his service in procurement as a buyer assistant for five years, and then moved up to a product coordinator, handling print coordination of LifeWay’s on-going products. In 1990, during a major LifeWay organization, he moved up to Buyer, handling the print purchasing of various on-going products as well as short-term products and non-product printing for advertising and marketing. It was during this time that he learned and developed skills relating to all aspects of LifeWay’s printing papers. In 1994 he accepted his current position, handling LifeWay’s paper needs. His functions include the acquisition and management of LifeWay’s paper inventory, working with all LifeWay components relating to paper recommendations and supplying paper specifications and pricing. He also assists with preparation and implementation of Corporate Procurement’s various print contracts and well as doing miscellaneous print purchasing that does not fall under the other SBU’s.

Dan graduated from Belmont College, earning his B.B.A. with an emphasis in Music Business 1983. He earned his ISM C.P.M. certifications in 2007 and earned lifetime status in 2012. He is currently working on the CPSM Bridge certification.

Dan has been married to Judith for 37 years and has a daughter, Lauren, and son, Jamison. Judith, also a Belmont graduate, works as a nurse for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Lauren earned her nursing degree from the University of Tennessee and is also employed by Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. She is currently working on her master degree through Vanderbilt. Jamison is in his third year at Cumberland University and is a member of the wrestling team. He will graduate in Spring 2015 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Dan’s hobbies are bowling, golf, music, and travel. He volunteers during the spring and summer as a scorekeeper/coach with the Tyler Cates, Mt. Juliet Post 281 American Legion baseball program.
